Texen Group’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets approved by SBTi

Texen Group, a leader in luxury cosmetic packaging, proudly announces that its medium- and long-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets have been validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi*). This commitment reflects the Group’s dedication to actively contributing to the fight against climate change and achieving Net-zero GHG emissions by 2050, in line with the European Green Deal.

A Strong Commitment to Climate Action

For many years, Texen Group has been measuring its GHG emissions. Since 2021, the company has been using the “GHG Protocol” methodology, utilizing data from ADEME and ECOINVENT databases. Its climate roadmap covers all emissions linked to its activities: direct emissions (scope 1), indirect emissions from purchased energy (scope 2), and all emissions throughout its value chain (scope 3**).

SBTi Approved Targets

The SBTi has validated Texen’s ambitious targets:

Net-zero GHG emissions across the value chain by 2050.
Near-Term Targets (2030): reduce absolute GHG emissions scopes 1 and 2 by 52.9% (from a 2021 base year) and scope 3** by 25% (from a 2023 base year).
Long-Term Targets (2050): reduce absolute GHG emissions by 90% scopes 1, 2 (from a 2021 base year), and 3** (from a 2023 base year).

** Scope 3 targets include GHG emissions from: purchased goods and services, upstream and downstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting and end-of-life treatment of sold products.

A concrete and ambitious action plan

To achieve its GHG emission reduction targets, Texen Group has implemented or is exploring several measures, including:

– Deployment of renewable energy contracts at sites with the highest carbon intensity (Poland and Mexico).
– Reducing gas consumption, for example, by optimizing temperature setpoints in air handling units on surface treatment lines or by installing systems for heat recovery.
– Using recycled plastics, which have lower emissions compared to virgin materials, in new product developments.

Promising Results

Texen Group has already reduced its carbon emissions by 37% in Scopes 1 and 2 by 2023 compared to 2021. This achievement demonstrates the company’s commitment to driving the ecological transition within the industry.

“In 2023, we committed to the SBTi to set science-based GHG emission reduction targets. After several months of work, our trajectory towards Net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 was validated in January 2025. This milestone is a key step of our decarbonization roadmap, aligned with our CSR strategy. But beyond the strategy, these targets reflect our commitment to partnering with our clients to face the challenge of climate change together.” Dorian Goux, HSE Coordinator at Texen Group

*Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi): the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). It promotes best practices for achieving Net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. The SBTi independently assesses and validates companies’ science-based targets to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
